2022-2023 Registration NOW OPEN!
Wrestling is a great off-season sport for Football and Lacrosse athletes. Many of wrestling’s physical demands and skills translate well to Football, Lacrosse, and other sports.
In order to wrestle, you must register with Hidden Valley Youth Sports Association. You will also be required to register for a USA Wrestling Card at https://www.usawmembership.com/login (search for Hidden Valley Wrestling) to participate in practice and tournaments.
-September 1, 2022 through October 15, 2022
-Registration Fee: $90
- Hidden Valley Youth Sports Association will provide singlets for the wrestlers.
- Wrestlers are responsible for their own wrestling shoes and head gear.
Practice starts on November 1, 2022, three days per week from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.* We encourage parents to attend practice so you can learn about wrestling as their child does.
Tournaments will be held on Saturdays in Roanoke, Bedford, Franklin County, Lynchburg and other regional areas.
*Practice schedule may be adjusted based on the Hidden Valley Middle School Wrestling schedule.
Weight divisions are set based on the child's weight and competition. There are no minimum or maximum weight requirements.
Ages 9-11, born between 10/1/10 and 9/30/13
The first step to becoming a coach is to register an account with the HVYSA website. If you are registering your child for a sport at the same time, you should set them up as a participant first. Once the account is created, any available programs will be displayed with an option to register. During this registration process you will have the option to volunteer as a coach and other volunteer roles.
If you already have an account, you may access the registration page by clicking “Login”.
Please note that your registration to be a head coach is only an application. The sport’s coordinator will contact you regarding your status.
*More Information on Background Screenings
Teams cannot start practicing until the coach has been screened and they have a badge. Coaches contact information will be submitted to Roanoke County Parks and Recreation for background screening. Once the screening is complete, the coach will be notified by the sport’s coordinator to pick up their coaching credential badge.
Please note that your coaching credential badge only confirms that you’ve been approved to coach and be on the court. Your sport’s coordinator will assign you to a team if your application has been accepted.
